Stream Fishing Hints and Tips
If you are going to try for some
stream trout, be sure to take some Panther Martin spinners with you. Sizes
2 and 4 are what you want, and do not forget Mepps and Rooster Tails also,
the smaller , the better. Red worms and leaf worms also work well, and
I also fish flies on my spinning rig, using a casting bubble. Grubs and
other insects found in rotten logs along side the stream or river you are
on will also do well, and when the grasshoppers and crickets are out, you
can find no better bait in the world.
Use an ultra-light rod and
reel spooled with 2-4 lb. test for the best set-up I have found. A 4-6
foot rod works the best in the close quarters found in the streams and
creeks in this area (and others also). I have used longer rods, but they
can be rather hard to maneuver in such close quarters, but I have to say
that there are times when a long pole is nice to have when fishing a hole
on a small stream. You can reach across and lower your bait into it without
casting and spooking the fish there.
