Patrons
of Adventure
Patrons of Adventure can be used as a game aid
for any fantasy d20 game. Each patron is a fully detailed NPC with accompanying
d20 stats, an adventure outline, plot hooks and enough adventure seeds
to spark many nights of exploration. Why not publish full adventures?
It's true that many advertise "fully detailed" adventures that
you can just pluck off of some website or store shelf and supposedly run
right out of the shrink-wrap. But, we all know that even the best adventure
requires a fair amount of work to integrate into a campaign setting. More
importantly, once you are finished, you're done. You put the adventure
on the shelf and it sits there never used for the same group of
players again.
The authors of Patrons of Adventure acknowledge
up front that the DM will have to change some place names, and maybe even
the names of some of the patrons themselves to integrate them in to your
game. (There's a brief section below to help you with this.) Unlike a
static module, Patrons of Adventure offers many more hours of gaming.
We wrote it to stay off your bookshelf. The best adventures grow
naturally out of the characters backgrounds and interaction with vivid
NPCs - characters in their own right, with their own motivations, goals,
and histories. Patrons of Adventure gives the game master all of
the raw materials for such adventures. Instead of renting you a room for
the night, we want to help you build a house.
You may visit the Palaestra website
and use it as the setting for games (not products, of course) involving
these NPCs). The Palaestra site contains extensive information about the
city of Tavia in particular (including a map) and more d20 material as
well. (The Palaestra setting is ©2001 by Wayne Peacock.)

Debt

Some
doors, once opened, cannot be closed.

A
beginning adventure for D20 Modern that introduces players to the world
of In a Secret Commonwealth, Kismet's
forthcoming D20 Modern game.
When characters are drawn into a stalled kidnapping investigation,
they discover that nothing about the crime is ordinary.
The motive is vague, and the circumstances of the abduction
seemingly impossible. The character's pursuit of the truth takes
them on a multi-part adventure that eventually lands them in a Secret
Commonwealth - a hidden society full of secrets that
are by turn, ominous and intriguing.

Coming this Spring*
In a Secret Commonwealth

A
Duel Between Two Realities

Human and fay heroes engage in intrigues and high adventure
as the forces of Fayrie exert their power in the mortal
world. Secret societies, long dormant, spring into action as fayrie magic
offers perils and new opportunities - some seek to
thwart the fayrie "invasion," others hasten it, and still others
work their own angles. The heroes of In a Secret Commonwealth
campaign are persons caught up in the drama unfolding as the worlds of
Fayrie open to earth once more, spilling magic back
into the world. The characters may be fay or human, and come from any
walk of life. The initial draw of the game should be
the discovery that magic and Fayrie creatures and cultures exist in this
world
and that they're not all ambassadors of
goodwill.

In
short, fayries ain't Tinkerbell.
