include little curtains to open and reveal surprises underneath.
Life Lines
This small wall quilt is
the third in my series of palm reading quilts. This one shows various
"life lines". The inner quilt is embroidered with swirls of
heavy thread.
Jack's guitar
This bed quilt was made for and
with my son Jack to send him off fortified to music school. It was
originally inspired by a painting by Yoshitaka Amano.
Diatoms: small
wonders
These beauties provide 25% of
the earth’s oxygen. There are 100,000 species and they’ve been around
100 million years. Diatoms may next help slow global warming.
Four of Wands
This quilt is from the Tarot
Art Quilt Project which debuted in April 2003 at the International
Quilt Festival - Chicago. "Celebrate!" is my name for this
4 of wands interpretation. I was immediately struck by the fact that
unlike the majority of the deck, the traditional interpretations of this
card and its reversed meaning are the same.
Page of Swords
This quilt is also from the Tarot
Art Quilt Project which debuted in April 2003 at the International
Quilt Festival - Chicago. " This tarot quilt is a collaboration with
my son, Jack. He sketched the original drawing for the page. Like my page
of swords, he is a thinker, and a truth seeker with an important life
before him. I dedicate this quilt to him.
Hot Houses (collection
of Debra Meltzer)
The inspiration for "Hot
Houses" was the phrase itself. I think these are party houses. They
are surrounded by keys and welcome mats. The quilt is appliqued and
embroidered. (4' by 4').
Awake, You Sleepers! (collection
of Debra Meltzer)
The title for this quilt comes from a prayer recited
during the Jewish high holidays. (40" x40").
