Summary of Cruise Events

Polar Bear Cruise - This isn't really a cruise, but it really is fun.  Set aside a nice springtime afternoon to reacquaint yourself with all the club members after such a long, long winter.  There should be plenty of food, fun and games and certain individuals getting wet. Hint. Hint. Participate with us in a toast to the new boating season.

Shakedown Cruise - Although this may not be YOUR first cruise of the year, this IS the first official 10000 Lakes Boat Club cruise of the year, and will be held at one of Stillwater's local marinas.  Get you boats fine tuned and ready to tackle a wonderful 2004 summer, or maybe you are lucky to give your "new" boat its first trial run of the season. Either way, don't miss this fun opportunity to refamiliarize yourself with boating.

Memorial Day Trip - This year the club will take a breather from its usual destination at Great River Harbor, and instead spend a couple days in Wabasha.  Given the extremely busy weekend, getting reservations could be a little tricky, so backup locations are at Pepin and Lake City.   Don't miss out on this great opportunity to spend quality cruising time with family and friends, at a couple of the club's favorite small towns.

Week Long Summer Cruise - This year we cruise all the way to the Quad Cities.  Our mini flotilla will trace the path of the following month's Grand Excursion. (See below)  Stops may include Lake City, Winona, La Crosse, Trempealeau, Marquette, Clinton, Sabula, Savannah, and Davenport/Rock Island.  Prepare yourself for one of the club's biggest and most aggressive trips yet.

2004 Grand Excursion - This four state event marks the 150th anniversary of the opening of the West by boat.  It features a Grand Flotilla, which will bring hundreds of boats, 8 paddle wheeler's, many elected officials and press corps north to St. Paul, MN from the Quad Cities.  It will be coordinated with the annual Taste of Minnesota at Harriet Island.  Note: Recreational Boating on the Mississippi River may be limited during these dates.

Family Fun Days - This has become a club favorite that is specifically designed to appeal to all the kids, youth, and spirited adults in the club.  We pack so many events into this weekend that you definitely won't want to miss out.  In the plans are a trip to the Red Wing waterpark, picnics and games, ice cream social, shopping trips, dining out and more. It is a wonderful opportunity to introduce new boaters to the club!

Mousetrap Cruise - Back by popular demand, the club will head through Lock #2 and up to St. Paul, MN.  But this year we will be doing it when it is a tad bit warmer.  The Centennial Showboat Theater will be presenting Agatha Christie's "Mousetrap" Play that week - (hence the name of this cruise.) St. Paul offers beautiful city lights, plenty of restaurants and parks in close walking distance, and a nice atmosphere, making this cruise a must .

Labor Day Cruise - The Club will be making Lake City its home for Labor Day.  The  town, the marina, and Lake Pepin offer such a tremendous boating experience that we just couldn't fit it all in one day, so we will be staying there two days!  This trip is really a wonderful time to relax and enjoy the waning summer season, to take that last dip in the water, and to get to know more of our club members - since this is also one of the best attended trips!

Fall Colors Cruise - This is the last scheduled trip of the year.  The dates may be hit or miss whether we see some beautiful tree colors, but should definitely be a hit when it comes to a cruise to be at.  The destination is not very far, and should offer warmth if we need it.    Fall cruising adds a slightly different perspective to boating than seen in the summer - crisp solitude, tranquility, a relaxed pace, just trying to take everything in one LAST time.
